Richmond Virginia's destruction by Union Forces antique print published 1865. Original double-page panorama of the Confederate capital following its capture by Union Forces published in 'The Illustrated London News' Oct. 21st. 1865. The newspaper reports "wholesale incendiarism, causing the destruction of a great many offices, factories, shops, and dwelling houses." It opines it is "one of the most terrible instances of the destructive fury of a civil war."
This original antique print measures approx. 22x16 inches (paper size) with full text verso as to the results of the "conflagration" and the hopes for the future. A rare antique print in excellent condition. Usual centre fold.
