Stowmarket guncotton explosion of 1871 antique print. Original full-page antique print published in ‘The Illustrated London News’ on 26th. August 1871, showing the devastation caused by the explosion which killed 28 people and injured a further 72. In 2013, 23 of the victims were commemorated on a cemetery plaque in the Stowmarket Old Cemetery, those buried in their parish graveyards were not included in the plaque. Paper size 16×10.5 inches. Excellent condition.
