Merdon Castle. The earliest references to Merdon Castle date from the late 12th century; Bishop of Winchester Henry de Blois built a manor house called Merdon Castle (Merden in this print,) within the parish of Hursley, Hampshire, in 1138. Antique copper-plate engraving of Merdon Castle. Dated in the plate 20 Aug; 1785. Size of engraved area approx 5x6ins.
