Southampton. Southampton’s town walls are a sequence of defensive structures built around the town in southern England. Entry to the town being by a series of gates, defended by towers. The East Gate, Southampton, was demolished in 1774. Antique copper-plate engraving of East-Gate, Southampton. Dated in the plate 28th July 1784. Size of engraved area approx 5x6ins.
