Southampton Watergate Hampshire antique print

Southampton Watergate stood at the bottom of Southampton High Street. Built in 1377, following a French raid on the city, it was intended that it strengthen Southampton’s southern defences. The Watergate was demolished in 1804. Antique copper-plate engraving, dated in the plate 10th July 1784. Size of engraved area approx 5x6ins.
