HMS Enterprise and HMS Investigator antique print

HMS Enterprise laid down as a merchant vessel at Blackwall, she was purchased by the Admiralty to lead a search for Franklin via the Atlantic in 1848-1849. Commanded by Captain James Clark Ross without success.

In 1850-1854 Enterprise was commanded by Richard Collinson in a second unsuccessful expedition via the Pacific Ocean and the Bering Strait
